About

The Florida Alpha Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was brought to the University of Miami in the Fall 2002 semester as a Phoenix Colony. The Brotherhood quickly grew and started establishing themselves as the True Gentlemen on campus. By the Fall 2003 semester, Florida Alpha had satisfied all of the SAE National requirements and was granted approval to become a full chapter.

As a chapter, Florida Alpha quickly established itself as the best chapter on campus. Within its first two years as a chapter, Florida Alpha had been named the Most Outstanding Chapter by the University of Miami Intrafraternity Council. Florida Alpha also stood out as the most outstanding SAE Chapter being awarded the 2006 John O. Moseley Award for Fraternal Zeal, the highest honor bestowed upon a collegiate chapter by the SAE National Office.

Since returning to the University, Florida Alpha has dedicated itself to redefining fraternity and working hard to abolish the “frat boy” image. The Chapter works hard to enhance the undergraduate experience by providing an exciting social community, service learning opportunities, extracirricular sports, and true friendship to last a lifetime. The Brotherhood’s unique efforts have allowed the Chapter to donate over $80,000 to charities like the American Cancer Society and the Children’s Miracle Network, win the University’s 2006 & 2007 Homecoming, be named the 2008 Greek Week Champions, and be awarded as the University’s Most Outstanding Chapter for four consecutive years.

In August 2009, Florida Alpha opened the doors of its new fraternity house, which is also the newest fraternity house built on UM’s campus in 50 years. The house has been a great addition to the chapter and has helped build stronger bonds in the Brotherhood and increase relations with Alumni.
