SAE continued its winning ways Monday Nov. 21st with two championships in the same night including soccer and 3 v. 3 basketball. This adds to the flag football and racquetball championships from earlier in the semester putting SAE in first place in our race for our first ever president’s cup!

Congratulations to the newest pledge class of the Florida Alpha chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. All 11 of the 11 bids that were given out we’re accepted and they are excited to begin their pledgship. The new pledges include Taylor Blaney, Jason Green, Nick Avianto, Nick Masotto, Brendan Amaru, Marc-Andre Roy, Mister Helman, Ryan Bunting, Benjy Waxman, Matt Graf, and Jordan Conti.

Happy Founders Day! There has never been a time to be more proud to be a brother or alumni of the Florida Alpha Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Our on campus awards this year include outstanding campus involvement, community service, and philanthropy. We also won three sorority philanthropy events including; SDT eat bid and be merry, Tri-Delta frats at bat, and DG anchorbowl (yet another three peat).

SAE 3-Peats with 28-6 win over Pi Kappa Phi

In pursuit of their first President’s Cup championship, SAE dominated the flag football tournament for the third straight year. Inspired by the recent untimely death of brother Andrew Klausmeyer, star quarterback Michael Crow led the team with 213 yards on 17 of 20 attempts with 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown. Eminant Archon EJ Silver was a big target for Crow with 8 receptions for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. SAE (7-0) completed the undefeated season with an average margin of victory of 23.8. Immediately following the greek league championship SAE proved their dominance over the entire campus by defeating the open league champs as well. Crow went 76 for 100 on the season for 974 yards with 17 touchdowns and no interceptions. On the defensive end, Joe Munn and Eli Eisenstadt each had 4.5 sacks on the season and Josh Bergman led the team with 18 tackles.

Brotherhood Retreat was this past weekend. We moved from Gilbert’s in Key Largo to Orlando with the opportunity for brothers to attend the Daytona 500!

Spring 2011 Recruitment

Spring 2011 recruitment concluded Friday Feb. 4, 2011 when FL-A accepted 25 new members into pledgeship. Congratulations to the Rho pledge class:

Kyle Sparks, Joe Mardini, Chris MacHatton, Dan Bouck, Nico Saucedo, Brian Fliegel, Mitch Falter, Marc Roth, Mike Theiss, Zach Firestone, Francisco Villegas, Dave Podlofsky, Alex Baren, Alex Schrieks, Jason Sirotkin, Emil Thyssen, Chase Preston, Steve Kiss, Mike Vecchione, Brandon Lay, Jared Krim, Samson Magid, Philip Fitzpatrick, Geoff Kirsner, and Jeremy Gorovitz

These men have already begun pledgeship into the fraternity. In the coming weeks, they will learn about the history of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the University of Miami, and of the Florida Alpha chapter. They will also grow closer to brothers and alumni as the semester unfolds.

Spring 2010 Recruitment

When deferred recruitment first came to the University of Miami in the Fall of 2008, many students in the Greek community were appalled. Many couldn’t believe that freshmen had to wait a semester before being allowed to join a fraternal organization.

It posed new challenges to the Greek community, many of which hindered several chapters during the transitional period into deferred recruitment. However, having successfully adapted to the new policies, the Florida Alpha chapter has mastered the challenges that deferred rush poses.

Spring 2010 recruitment concluded Friday, Feb. 5 when FL-A accepted 19 new members into pledgeship. Congratulations to the Omicron pledge class: Adam Bofill, Nick Gubitosi, Tucker Isgrig, Alex Saenz, Bryan Alexander, Harrison Bryant, Jake Kopczyk, Kapil Gupta, Lee Werner, David Azar, Josh Bitran, Ryan Faulstich, Thiago Azevedo, Chris Thome, Jordan Magid, Justin Combs, Michael Tokunaga, Scott Bergman, and Mark Veevers-Carter.
