We know that the choice of joining a fraternity can be a very difficult and confusing one, especially with all the decisions you are already forced to make upon entering college. Knowing this, we want to make sure you are well informed on what Greek Life and SAE has to offer at the University of Miami before you decide. Our website should help answer some of your basic questions, but you will undoubtedly have many more to be answered. In order to find out what SAE and Greek Life is really all about we encourage you to speak with our Brothers and attend our recruitment events. There is really no better way to learn about SAE than to actually visit with us. If you have any questions regarding SAE, recruitment, or Greek Life in general, feel free to contact Recruitment Chairman Emil Thyssen via email at emil.thyssen@gmail.com, or join the Facebook group: Sigma Alpha Epsilon Spring Rush 2011.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon proudly possesses the newest Fraternity house at the University of Miami in over 40 years. Completed in the Fall of 2009, the house boasts 16 SINGLE bedrooms each equipped with its own PRIVATE bathroom, DirectTV with HBO, built-in loft, electronic punch code lock, and individual air conditioning unit. The house is home to a large grass courtyard, 65in HDTV, NFL Sunday Ticket, industrial-sized gas grill, both men’s and women’s public bathrooms, brand new leather couches, outdoor bars, water fountains, two brand new sets of FREE-to-use washing and drying machines, an outdoor patio with ping pong table, and of course, the kiddie pool. Brothers can always be seen at the house playing wiffleball, grilling outside, or just catching some rays from the Miami sun.
Socially, SAE dominates. We held four sorority mixers (ADPi, TriDelt, SDT and Zeta), two crush parties, and a brotherhood building bus to the Hard Rock Hotel. We provide buses to and from our tailgates at every home football game, and will charter a trip to the FSU away game. Each year we look forward to our annual Semi Formal (this past semester was on a boat) in the Fall, and end-of-the-year Formal in the Spring at the Embassy Suites in Deerfield Beach, where brothers get a chance to relax before finals commence.
Brotherhood Building is a cornerstone of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Each semester SAE also holds an overnight brotherhood building retreat. Locations from the past include Key Largo, the Everglades, and Orlando (on the way to the Daytona 500) where some of our most memorable times are had. As a Chapter SAE frequently holds brotherhood building events. Events from the past include: SAE Parents Weekend, paint balling, deep sea fishing, go-karting, brotherhood olympics, Frat Fridays, chapter dinners, bowling every wednesday, excursions to the Lowe Art Museum on campus, and many more.
This year, Sigma Alpha Epsilon will be holding its 6th Annual Paddy Murphy Philanthropy Week benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network. During this time, sororities compete in a week long series of events including a Powderpuff Football Tournament, a Miss Minerva Pageant and a Brother Auction to name a few. Past winners include Tri Delt and DPhiE. Last year, SAE was proud to raise a little over $12,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network (more than any other Fraternity on campus). ADDITIONALLY, each year during Paddy Murphy Week, SAE holds a free benefit concert for the students of UM. The artist for this year’s Paddy Murphy Concert will be announced within the coming months! In the past we have brought Shwayze (2010), The Ying Yang Twins (2009), and Grammy Award nominated artist Afroman (2008).
Sigma Alpha Epsilon is proud to have won the 2009 – 2010 Outstanding IFC Chapter of the Year Award. This is the most prestigious award a Fraternity can receive at the University of Miami- given to the ONE Chapter which displays the highest standards in every aspect of Fraternity Life on campus. This marks the FIFTH consecutive year in a row that SAE has received this honor.
